Olympic wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt is winning hearts from his actions both on and off the pitch as he has decided to take a token amount of Re 1 as dowry for his wedding.
Dutt is going to tie the knot with Sheetal, the daughter of congress leader Jaibhagwan Sharma on January 16 in Delhi.
"I saw my family struggle to collect dowry for the girls of the family," said the Olympian as told by TOI.
"As a result, I decided on two things while growing up — I will excel in wrestling and I will not accept dowry. My first dream has been realised and now it is time to keep my second promise," the 34-year-old added.
Dutt said how he wished his father Rammehar Dutt and his first guru Master Satbir Singh had been alive to see him fulfil both his promises.
His mother Sushila Devi said that they are taking rupee 1 as a mark of good omen from the bride's family but will not demand anything else.
