Jagan arrest as supporters attempt suicide in protest
The CBI on Monday got 14-day judicial custody of YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagmohan Reddy in disproportionate assets case.
Meanwhile, high drama prevailed outside the CBI court when Jagan's supporter attempted suicide. According to reports, Reddy's supporter tried to slit his wrist outside the Nampally court while shouting 'Jai Jagan'. He was protesting Jagan's arrest. The supporter was later detained by the police.
Jagan was arrested on Monday by the CBI on charges of corruption and illegally amassing wealth. Jagan's arrest came after three days of questioning by CBI about investment flowing into his companies.
The YSR Congress party on Sunday called for three-day bandh in East Godavari district from May 28. Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation's Rajahmundry depot too cancelled its bus services in view of the arrest of YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Jagan's arrest evoked strong reaction across the state of Andhra Pradesh. There were also reports that Ashok,fruit vendor from Tirupati, immolated himself on late Sunday night to protest Jaganmohan Reddy's arrest. He was admitted in hospital with 95 per cent burns.
